'Wah Taj' is a satire about a farmer from Maharashtra who stakes a claim to the Taj Mahal along with his wife. The films subject per se doesnt lend itself to a strong soundtrack. The album has five songs with mediocre music and lyrics. It kick-starts with 'Chhori Chhichhori', a typical lavni number that is reminiscent of tracks like 'Mungda' and 'Chikni Chameli'.
Aakanksha Sharma lends it the right oomph with her versatile voice and supersedes the male vocalist, Adarsh Shinde. But neither the lyrics, which are interspersed with some Marathi words, by Guru Thakur nor the music by Gaurav Dagaonkar stay with you after the song is over.
'Murga Bole', penned by Kumaar and sung by Tochi Raina, is a comical take on the dismal state of affairs in the country. Tochi, who has delivered hits like 'Iktara', 'Kabeera' and 'Saibo' in the past, lacks form. The music by Jaidev Kumar, which is replete with hip-hop beats, is also nothing to write home about.
'Tu Hi Bata Mere Khuda', rendered by Javed Bashir, Vipin Patwa, Humsar Hayat and Bhanu Pratap Singh, is a mellow qawwali number. Dr Sagars lyrics and Vipin Patwas music depict a mans plea to God to give him back what rightfully belongs to him well. But of late, such tracks have become so de rigeur that this one doesnt sound too different.

The last song, 'Kanha Mere Kanha', has two versions. While Vipin Patwa, Mohit Lalwani, Manjira Ganguly, Deepali Sathe, Arpita Mukharjee, Pratibha Singh Baghel and Harshal Kumar sing the first one, its the second one rendered by Patwa, Manjira Ganguly, Deepali Sathe, Arpita Mukharjee and Pratibha Singh Baghel, which makes an impression. The female singers articulate and melodious voices make this a delight to listen. Overall, 'Wah Tajs soundtrack has more misses than hits.
