KALYAN: Fresh potholes have surfaced on several important Kalyan-Dombivli roads following incessant rain over the last four days. The potholes had been fixed at several stretches before Ganeshotsav. The patchwork has been dislodged, leaving uneven stretches and causing vehicles to slow down.
Mainly affected were the Kalyan-Murbad Road, Valdhuni bridge, Rambag, Santoshi Mata Road, Agra Road, Katemanivali signal, Vithalwadi Shamshan Bhumi Road and Gharda Circle area in Dombivli.
Traffic snarls are routine on Santoshi Mata Road and Valdhuni bridge but with the potholes, the situation has worsened. Ramesh Jadhav, a Kalyan (E) resident who travels to Khadakpada, said, “The Valdhuni bridge is narrow but with the potholes after the rain, travelling is more difficult.” Locals alleged that work done prior to the festival was inferior. Sandeep Gaikar, KDMC standing committee chairman, said, “It is the duty of the contractor who had filled the potholes. We’ll get the work done by them.”
In neighbouring Ulhasnagar city, the situation is worse, with potholes even on the road opposite the civic body’s headquarters
