A clip has been released from the Lady Macbeth movie. The video embedded above features a conversation between Katherine and Sebastian (played by Florence Pugh and Cosmo Jarvis).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie “is not based on the Shakespeare play, and instead brings an infamous Russian femme fatale to 19th century England.” The inspiration comes from Nikolai Leskov’s 1865 novella, Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District.
Deadline reports that this project marks the feature film directorial debut for William Oldroyd. It was recently screened at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. (via BBC News)
