Xiaomi has started teasing its new Mi 5s smartphone, ahead of its September 27 launch. GizmoChina has put out a picture of Xiaomi’s teaser, where number ‘164,119’ is seen to be taking center stage. If reports are anything to be believed, this is the Antutu benchmark for Xiaomi Mi 5s. The teaser has Xiaomi’s logo at the top right. A line written down below says, “What new high-end technology Xiaomi __S has in addition to performance.” This teaser is an indication that rumours hinting at Snapdragon 821 processor and Apple iPhone-like 3D Touch might actually be true.
To recall, Xiaomi’s last flagship – Mi5 – scored 110645 on Antutu in our review. The Mi5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. It is only logical that Mi 5s scores higher as it is said to pack the latest Snapdragon 821 processor. Qualcomm’s new processor will be coupled with 6GB RAM and 256GB internal storage in Mi 5s.
According to reports, Xiaomi Mi 5s will have a 5.5-inch 2K display, 16MP rear camera and a 4MP front shooter. The Mi 5s will pack Adreno 530 GPU for graphics performance and will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with company’s MIUI 8. Xiaomi Mi 5s will support two nano SIM cards. The smartphone will have a big 3,490 mAh battery with Type-C USB charging just like the original Mi 5.
Xiaomi Mi 5 was introduced in India in March. It comes in 3GB RAM+32GB storage version at a price of Rs 24,999. The phone recently got a price cut to Rs 22,999. Specifications of Xiaomi Mi 5 include: 5.1-inch full HD display, 16MP rear camera, and more. However, in our review we found the phone suffered from heating issues, the camera was definitely not worthy of flagship standards and the overall software was a major letdown.
