A dance drama effectively conveyed the story of Dattatreya.

Datta Gadha ’ a dance drama scripted by Sri Ganapathi Satchidananda Swamy was performed at the G.V.R.Government College of Music and Dance as part of the weekly cultural program scheme instituted by A.P.Government Bhasha Samskritika Sangham. The dance drama was presented by Pasumarthi Kumara Datta on behalf of Sri Siddhendra Kuchipudi Kalakshetram of Dhavaleswaram. The credits for fine musical score and attractive choreography to respectively to Pasumarthi Srinivasa Sarma and N.Ch.Butchaiahcharyulu.

When the Trimurthis Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara state that Anasuya is the greatest among Pativratas, their spouses Saraswathi, Lakshmi and Parvathi are offended and go to test Anasuya’s pativratyam . They ask their husbands to visit Anasuya’s house as guests and ask Anasuya to serve them food stripping herself naked. Anasuya sprinkles Yoga jalam on Trimurthis, thus converting them to infants; and the goes on serve food to them. She effectively treated them like a mother.

Subsequently after some time, Dattatreya is borne with as an incarnation of the Trimurthis and makes Sahyadri his abode and does gnanabodha . The episodes convincingly and effectively conveyed the story through the excellently trained cast which included Kumara Datta (Dattatreya), Ramesh (sage Atri), Umarani (Anasuya), Gopi (Bramha), Badrinadh (Siva), Bhavani Pravallika (Lakshmi) and Satyavani (Parvathi).

Other cast members were Gargeya, Kiranmayi, Mounika, Umanjali, Sai Santoshi and Srinivasa Rao. Excellent vocal support by N.C.Kousik Kalyan and Tushara Poornavalli elevated the devotional effect of the dance drama. Nattuvangam was rendered by Pasumarthi Srinivasa Sarma.
