Rs 5 crore drugs seized in Mandsaur

A Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) team from Kota arrested an accused and seized illegal drugs worth Rs5 crore in the black market from him in Shamgarh town of Mandsaur late on Tuesday.

INDORE: A Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) team from Kota arrested an accused and seized illegal drugs worth Rs5 crore in the black market from him in Shamgarh town of Mandsaur late on Tuesday.
Acting on specific information recorded by Dharam Singh Meena, inspector at CBN Kota, a preventive party from the Deputy Narcotics Commissioner (DNC) office Kota seized 1 kg of heroin and 13.6 kg of Alprazolam during a raid at a house at Dalmill Colony behind Jain Mandir in Shamgarh town in Mandsaur district.

“The arrest was a follow up action after the arrest of another accused from Kota two days ago. The accused, Sudhir Gupta, was arrested and 4,600 grams of opium along with 3 kgs of alprazolam was seized from his possession. During interrogations, he revealed about more consignments in Mandsaur,” said Dr Sahi Ram Meena, deputy narcotics commissioner, Kota.
Following the information, a preventive team reached Shamgarh and arrested accused identified as Chandra Shekhar Patidar alias Sonu, a resident of Garoth in Mandsaur under relevant sections of the NDPS Act from the spot.
The accused, the officer claimed, was a habitual offender and an absconder in a bust where 12 kgs of opium was seized by Rajasthan police in September 2012 at Mandaganj area in Ajmer district.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Jagdish Mawal, superintendent.
“The price of the seized drugs is approximately Rs5 crore in the black market,” DNC Meena told TOI, adding that many other arrests might also take place after interrogations with the accused.
