TIRUPUR: DMK treasurer M K Stalin has demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of G Saravanan, 26, a junior resident doctor of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). "The Centre should order a CBI inquiry and get the culprits behind the death arrested. Chief minister J Jayalalithaa should impress upon the Centre to take appropriate measures in this regard,'' Stalin said in a statement on Wednesday.
Saravanan from Vellinagadu in Tirupur was found dead in his apartment at Hauz Khas in South Delhi on July 10. He had joined MD in Pathology at AIIMS in January 2016. But he gave up pathology and appeared for counselling again and joined MD in general medicine on July 1.
Ten days later, he was found dead in his apartment with venflon in his right arm through which the drug which killed him was injected through a syringe. His friends and parents had raised several doubts questioning the suicide angle initially touted by the Delhi police pointing out a right handed person cannot use his left hand to inject in the vein of his right hand. tnn
Politicians from Tamil Nadu had also demanded a thorough probe, raising doubts whether it was a murder to grab the seat in AIIMs which may fall vacant after his death.
The post mortem report of Saravanan, submitted in the Delhi high court had reportedly stated that the death could not have happened because of suicide, Stalin said.
