Hyderabad: A secretariat employee bludgeoned his neighbour to death over a property dispute at Nallakunta on Wednesday.
The deceased was Umadevi, 58, a housewife from
Dayanand Nagar in Nallakunta. The accused is,
Dharmaraju, 51, an elevator operator at
Telangana Secretariat.
For past few years, Dharmaraju had claimed that the 50 sq yards land on which Umadevi's house stands belongs to his father and he even filed a civil suit.
"Dharmaraju claimed that Umadevi duped his father and took possession of the land. He filed a civil suit and the judgement came in favour of Umadevi. Recently, Dharmaraju went for an appeal," Nallakunta inspector
V Yadgiri Reddy said. At 7 am, while Umadevi was walking back home after purchasing milk at a grocery store near her house, Dharmaraju hit her head with an iron rod. "She died on the spot," the inspector said. Police arrested Dharmaraju under section 302 of the IPC. The victim is survived by her husband and four children.
