Two women drown trying to save another

RAJKOT: Two women, who plunged into a lake to save a drowning woman, met the watery grave in Amreli on Wednesday.
Sharda Vaghela (28) and her sister-in-law were washing clothes at the Kamnath lake when they saw a woman drowning. Though they did not know how to swim properly, they jumped into the lake out of compassion. However, both drowned while the woman who was struggling was saved.
The deceased were living in slums near Jesinghpara Bridge in Amreli and their family members are casual labourers. Locals rushed to the spot and fished out their bodies. Amreli police has launched a probe into the accident.
