In a circular issued last week to private, aided and unaided colleges, the Department of Collegiate Education (DCE) instructed principals to hold classes on Saturdays and public holidays.
However, degree colleges have been told to function on Sundays as well. Principals have been given the discretion to decide how many days colleges need to work (on holidays) to cover the syllabus.
J.S. Veena, principal of Government Science College, said they are planning to conduct classes on four Saturdays, three Sundays and one public holiday. “We will take a call based on the necessity and decide how many days to work,” she said.
