Suva Muslim College won the first National Physics Quiz at Yat Sen Secondary School last Friday.

School headgirl Ruqaiqa Whippy said they were surprised to be informed about the good news.

The quiz team included Kaamil Edwards, Zakariyya Shameen, Ruqaiqa Whippy and Saad Abdulla.

“It was a really good experience for us even though we didn’t have much time to prepare but we did it,” Zakariyyya said.

Suva Muslim College is one of the top schools in the Central Division and winning the national competition was an added bonus, Ruiqaiqa said.

The College is the defending champion for IQ Active and is also third for Team Mathematics Competition (TMC) at Xavier College in Ba last month.

Team co-ordinators, Reshni Ranjani and Vinal Chand, said they were really proud to be leading the team and being the winner for the first Physics competition in the country.

“I think it’s a good thing the Ministry of Education has come up with the Physics competition because there was none in the past compared to other subjects,” Mrs Ranjani said.

According to the teachers, the competition has boosted the interest of students.

School principal Mohammed Farook said he was very happy with the good results and it has made them proud.

Suva Muslim is now preparing for their Chemistry and Biology Quiz on October 1.
