Chandigarh, Sept 21

Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu (in pic) today said that the Chandigarh airport was the joint initiative of Haryana and Punjab and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had dedicated it to the people.

Capt Abhimanyu, who was interacting with mediapersons here, said that Chandigarh was a prominent city of north India and the capital of Haryana and Punjab. Therefore, there should be no issue regarding its name. He said that if Mohali was so dear to Punjab, then it should hand over Chandigarh to Haryana.

On being asked about the allegations levelled by Congress leaders regarding increasing financial liabilities on the State Exchequer, he said that the Congress leaders had no understanding of statistics when they were in power in the State, then how could they be expected to understand them now, when they are in opposition?

These liabilities on the State have been inherited from the Congress regime, which the present state government has been trying to reduce by implementing better policies, he added.
