Former deputy CM and senior BJP leader Sushil Modi has questioned whether Bihar CM Nitish Kumar can stop senior advocate and RJD MP Ram Jethmalani from fighting dreaded RJD strongman Shahabuddins case in the Apex Court. Jethmalani will be appearing for Shahabuddin on Monday to defend the bail granted to him by the Patna High Court.
Speaking to the media, the BJP leader raised the issue of how Jethmalani, who won the Rajya Sabha elections recently with the support of the JD(U), will be defending Shahabuddins bail and fighting against the Bihar government which has challenged his bail.

Modi alleged that the Bihar CM had no problem with the dreaded don and at one point of time, Nitish was also ready to induct Shahbuddins wife Heena Shahab into the JD(U) fold and field her in Assembly elections on a JD(U) ticket.
Had Nitish been averse to Shahabuddin, he would have supported Prashant Bhushan in the court to conduct trial of Shahabuddins cases outside Bihar? Why didnt Nitish pressure Lalu to kick Shahabuddin out of RJD," asked the BJP leader.
Modi alleged that Lalu had got JD(U) MLA Anant Singh thrown out of the party after he was found guilty in a murder case. He also raised the issue of how Judge Ajay Kumar Srivastava, who served life term sentence to Shahabuddin in December last year in the acid attack case, got himself transferred from Siwan to Patna, a day before the don was released from jail.
