Senior Congress leader and former MP from Hoshiarpur, Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday joined Aam Aadmi Party at Chandigarh. Welcoming Channi into party fold, head of legal wing Himmat Singh Shergill said that with the induction of people like him party will definitely win the elections in Punjab. He said that every Punjabi is known to honesty and dedication of Channi.Addressing the media Charanjit Singh Channi said that he has joined the party without any condition and will work for the betterment of the party. Channi won assembly elections from Nawanshahar in 1997 as an independent candidate. In 1999 he won parliamentary elections from Hoshiarpur as a Congress candidate. Channi distributered record Rs. 14 crores from MPLED in his constituency during his tenure. Channi's father S. Dalbag Singh also remained MLA for 7 times. He was known for being a non-controversial politician.
