All Nova Scotia Community College campuses were closed Wednesday as police investigated potential threats at two campuses.

Halifax Regional Police responded to the NSCC’s Institute of Technology on Leeds Street just after 8 a.m. after the campus received a threatening message from an anonymous person.

Police searched the area with the help of a K9 unit but say nothing suspicious was found.

The campus was evacuated and classes were cancelled for the day.

Police were also investigating a potential threat the NSCC’s Marconi campus in Sydney.

Cape Breton Regional Police responded to the campus around 7:50 a.m. The campus was evacuated and classes were cancelled for the day.

Police gave the all-clear Wednesday afternoon, calling the incident a false alarm.

Still, NSCC decided to close all campuses across the province as a precaution to ensure the safety and students, staff and visitors.

It expects to resume regular operations Thursday.

Cape Breton University was also evacuated as a precaution and remained closed for the day.

All schools on Prince Edward Island, including the University of Prince Edward Island, were also evacuated Wednesday due to a potential threat. The RCMP later said the threat wasn't credible.
