Wednesday, September 21 is the big day everyone’s been waiting for, as the Fed announces at 2 pm whether it will hike interest rates or not. We’re at the tail end of Mercury retrograde (moves direct at 1:31 am Thursday), so surely the Fed has been going over data, statements and positions of the past. With Mercury in Virgo, data will be at the top of the decision-making list.
Mercury makes an easy trine to Pluto in Capricorn Tuesday at 9:26 pm, which certainly could pave the way for a powerful, data-driven announcement from the Fed on Wednesday afternoon. However, it also speaks to Tuesday’s grilling of the Wells Fargo CEO by the Senate regarding revelations about the bank’s sales practices in the past.
Wednesday’s reports include:
7:30 pm Tuesday Japan Merchandise Trade
10:30 am US EIA Petroleum Status
2:00 pm FOMC Meeting Announcement
2:00 pm FOMC Forecasts
2:30 pm Fed Chair Press Conference
