If Metallica's Kirk Hammet, Guns n Roses's Slash and Rick Neilson from Cheap Trick have used a certain guitar, how much would you pay for it? Because a London music store called Denmark Street Guitars has set this guitar as the world's most expensive ever, with a hefty price tag of $1,100,000.
The guitar in question is a 1958 Gibson Korina Explorer and according to the store, “The amount is the highest priced transaction ever for a single, not-artist affiliated guitar“.

Gibson only produced 19 units of the 1958 Explorer with a body built from Korina along with a pair of original PAF humbucker pickups. The Explorer itself was initially a concept model in 1957 and less than 50 units were shipped by Gibson in 1958 and 1959.

“The interest and demand for the world's most desired and iconic vintage instruments is strong and is based on vintage collectable guitars reaching the level that has been seen in other more recognised collectables (paintings, art, cars, etc.). We do feel the pricing of such instruments will increase at a steady, constant level in the coming years and thus prove to be an exceptionally strong .commodity that can be enjoyed,“ the store said in a press release
