Red Cross to spend Rs 290m TO rebuild Gorkha

Gorkha Red Cross official Shiva Prasad Subedi said Rs 156 million of the fund has already been spent.
“The remaining fund will be used for reconstruction work in Barpak, Manakamana, Bakrang, Mirkot, Shreenathkot, Gakhu, Thalajung, Hamri and Jaubari VDCs,” he said.
The Red Cross has been building homes, drinking water projects, health centres, irrigation facilities and roads in Gorkha. German, Belgian and Dutch Red Cross are also involved in these projects.
Chairman of Gorkha Red Cross Yadubilas Bhattarai said: “We will construct a model community building in each VDC. The quake affected families can construct the house following the same design,” he said.
The Red Cross has also trained 626 masons and carpenters to work in the quake-hit villages.
