Admn to boost border tourism in Samba

SAMBA, Sept 20: The Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda today visited Madoon (Treli) and discussed proposed development plan with the local residents.
The Village Treli is visited by large number of tourists from state and rest of the country during Amavasya, Sankranti, Poornmasi and other religious occasions and lies close to the International Border. The administration is contemplating to develop and promote border tourism in the area involving all the stakeholders.
The members of local community put forth their demands like renovation of Bathing Ghats and landscaping of surrounding areas. The DC directed them to maintain month wise record of number of tourists visiting the area. She called for avoiding haphazard constructions and preservation of green cover around the area.
She asked the locals to revive the traditional Baisakhi fair which was earlier being organised in the village. The DC also directed Rural Development Department to submit proposal for developing playground which can also be used for hosting Dangal.The DC directed various departments to submit proposals for developing and bringing the area on tourist map of the state.
The DC directed the Tourism Officer to prepare a Detailed Project Report and include the roads being proposed by PWD so that a comprehensive plan may be submitted for approval.
The DC was accompanied by SDM Ghagwal Narayan Dutt Sharma, DPO Samba Aijaj Qaiser, Xen PDD, Chief Horticulture Officer Samba, Tourism Officer Samba, Tehsildar, BDO and other sectoral officials.
