14 hurt in road mishap

KULLU: Fourteen persons were injured when a Bolero Pick-up (HP-66-0367) fell into a gorge near Kanaun in the Sainj valley of this district yesterday.

Fourteen persons were injured when a Bolero Pick-up (HP-66-0367) fell into a gorge near Kanaun in the Sainj valley of this district yesterday.

All were reportedly from Kanaun village and were on their way back home from Shalwad village. Most of the injured were students of a school at Shalwad. Kullu District Health Officer Sushil Chander Sharma said one person was referred to the IGMC, Shimla, due to renal trauma and others who sustained minor injuries were treated at the Kullu hospital.

He said seven persons were still undergoing treatment at the Kullu hospital. The police said during preliminary investigations it was found that driver Yashwant lost control of the vehicle and it fell into a gorge. — OC
