The suspected murder of Satbir Singh of Gorar village in the district on September 16 has turned out to be his well-planned strategy to escape paying a loan of around Rs 60-70 lakh and ensure that his family members receive the amount of his insurance after his death.

Stating this here yesterday, DIG Hardeep Singh said Satbir Singh’s son Bheesham lodged a complaint in the Kharkhoda police station, stating his father was shot dead by some unidentified persons and a case of murder was registered.

The DIG said during investigation, the police rounded up Chand Singh of the village, who said the deceased gave him money and liquor for murdering him. He also said Satbir gave him a country-made pistol and cartridges. “The accused will be taken in police custody from court today,” the DIG added.
