What can happen when a couple of Hollywood psychological-horror thrillers akin to Hannibal, etc become an inspiration for a directorial debut with a weak script and poor presentation? It does not bode well for the release! Such an attempt could easily be called an accidental venture with a high casualty. Himayath Khan’s Just Aakasmika, is just another catastrophe, and the experience is a complete torture!
Even if someone inadvertently finds themselves watching it, he either needs a pill for the headache it will give you, or he needs to take a quick nap. There was some hope when debutant director (Himayath Khan) teamed up with one of the popular cinematographers in the ad industry — Mohammed Haseeb. Vinod Paril, a techie who quit his job to mark his acting debut and Sanjjanaa Galrani making her comeback with one of her favourite co-stars from the Ganda-Hendathi fame Tilak, also drew attention to this film. However, the whole fiasco is just a huge disappointment.
Just Aakasmika starts on a painful journey with an orphan (Vinod Patil) living in an orphanage, ending up getting back to his parents after almost two decades! No guesses on how the parents had lost our hero during childhood. Further, the story moves at a snail’s pace making one wonder whether watching a TV soap could have been better, or even advertisements! May be even prime time news, which these days is more entertaining.
The hero moves into his parent’s house, where he uses a telescope to peep into the outer world like a new-age Columbus and finds an attractive lady (Sanjjanaa) who usually stands next to a window after taking showers. And then guess what?
The lady is our hero’s lost friend from his childhood. Wow, what a coincidence, right? A couple of songs a stop-motion one, something spooky happening all take this totally unbearable film further. This leads to a neighbour (Tilak), who is as usual more brawn entering the story line. Risk it, if you want a torturous few hours.
