Lads confident of doing well against Windies: Bari

Dubai - Bari said that the team has shown a lot of character and fighting spirit

Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Bari said that the lads were confident of doing well against T20 world champions West Indies after putting up a good showing against England.
"The boys are very confident, England were the runners-up in the T20 World Cup, and it was a good result (to beat them in the one-off T20). So, they feel they are going to be competitive," Bari, who is the team manager of the Pakistan team, said during Pakistan's training session at the ICC Cricket Academy on Tuesday.
"The team has gelled well and they have gained confidence after the England tour. We won the last ODI and the T20 and that has given them a lot of confidence. In cricket, what one requires is confidence in batting bowling and fielding. They boys are working hard and the main thing is to carry it on to the West Indies series as well, he added. 
Bari, who played 81 Tests and 51 One Day Internationals, said that the team has shown a lot of character and fighting spirit to end the England tour on a high.
"Look, this is a team game and it is a team effort. There has been a change and the Pakistan team has shown a lot of character and if they show that, it means that they have the fighting spirit," Bari said.
Bari expected a well fought series and also believed that the team which adapts to the conditions well, will have the advantage.
"West Indies are the world champions although they are without one two experienced players like (Chris) Gayle and (Andre) Russell, but they are a very fine side and I expect good cricket," he said.
"I think the team who adapts to the conditions will have an upper hand because the conditions are different from what we had in England," said the 68-year-old former wicketkeeper.
Bari was also pleased with the facilities on offer at the ICC Cricket Academy.
"I feel happy that the players are getting more facilities, and that cricket has come up well with the introduction of T20 cricket. I think the game is prospering. I think the facilities are of international standard and nothing short would have given you this reward. It is located in an area where people can come play cricket and enjoy cricket," he said.
