Rahul Gandhi attacks Narendra Modi government over Uri attack; says NDA has ‘no strategy’ in Kashmir

Holding Narendra Modi-led central government accountable for Uri attack, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that NDA has no strategy to handle hostile situations in Jammu & Kashmir. Rahul attacked BJP for its alliance with People Democratic Party(PDP) in Kashmir. “PM Modiji’s short-sighted alliance with PDP opened space for terrorism in Kashmir, our soldiers have died and I condemn that,” said Rahul in a letter posted on his Twitter account. Rahul, condemning Pakistan for Uri attack, said that its NDA government which has created a space in Kashmir for terrorist attacks. “I condemn what Pakistan has done. However, the space for that has been created by politics that NDA has carried out in Kashmir.” The Congress vice-president accused the government of handling Kashmir situation like a ‘public meeting’. “The NDA has no strategy in Kashmir, national security can’t be handled like public meets. This is a serious matter.” The Congress VP also assured the government of support in every possible way.

“Congress is ready to help in whatever way possible as far as our soldiers and Government of India is concerned. But we want a long term concrete strategy not this events based activity. Because this is extremely dangerous for the country,” said Rahul in the letter.

In one of the worst terror attacks on the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir, 18 army soldiers were martyred and 19 others were injured on Sunday morning when four heavily armed fedayeen stormed into the administrative buildings and store complex of an infantry battalion in Uri, home of the 12 Infantry Brigade, near the Line of Control (LoC). All the four terrorists were neutralised after a three-hour long gunfight. Army, in its initial probe, maintained that the militants belonged to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad.
