Clerk arrested while taking bribe at Arwal
Patna: A government clerk Premchand Tiwary was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1lakh by a team of vigilance officials at Arwal on Tuesday. Tiwary was arrested barely 41 days before his retirement.
Vigilance DSP Vinay Kumar Singh said Tiwary had asked for a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for moving the file related to increment of more than 20 chowkidars and dafadars posted in the district.
“A dafadar Rakesh Kumar lodged a complaint with the vigilance on September 15 against Tiwary alleging he had asked all of them to pay Rs 2 lakh as bribe for putting up the file,” said Singh adding his complaint was found to be true after verification on Monday.
He said the clerk had asked Rakesh to pay Rs 1 lakh on Tuesday and rest amount later. The DSP, who was leading the trap team said after nabbing the clerk from his rented accommodation located near Arwal block office, the vigilance team also recovered the file related to grade pay increment from his office which he had not handed over to his seniors.
“The clerk was scheduled to retire on October 31 this year,” said the DSP adding he was on deputation as an assistant in the general administration wing of the collectorate, while his actual place of posting was with the circle office, Arwal.
He also said complainant Rakesh Kumar was posted with the Karpi police station in the district while Tiwary was a native of Goh in Aurangabad district.
