Another malnourished child dies in Sheopur

BHOPAL: Yet another malnourished child died in Gopalpur village of Vijaypur. District administration sources said that Kamini daughter of Dharmendra, a saharia tribal died four days back but the report reached at the district headquarter on Monday.
The district woman and child welfare officer Jayant Verma however, neither admit nor deny the death. “let me find out”, he told TOI over phone from Sheopur.
Meanwhile, the 20 bed nutritious rehabilitation centre (NRC) at the district hospital of Sheopur is overcrowded with more than 180 malnourished children.
Recently, health minister visited Saharia tribe dominated villages of Sheopur and said that 8 to 10 malnourhsed children died in the district during the period of 4 to 5 months.
Meanwhile, in Chhatarpur, worms were detected in the food served to the families of malnourished children admitted at the NRC of the district hospital.
The district collector Ramesh Bhandari has ordered an inquiry.
