This is not the first time when Delhites have refused to help a victim on road. On August 11, a 30-year old man succumbed to death when he was hit by a goods carrying truck early in the morning in Subhash Nagar area of Delhi. Police had identified the victim as Matibool, who lay on the roadside for over 90 minutes, during which nobody came to his aid. The latter worked as an e-rikshaw driver during the day and a security guard at night. He was on his way back home when the speeding tempo hit him from behind.

After hitting Matibool, the driver of the tempo did get down, but only to see if his vehicle had suffered any damages and the rushed from the spot. While he lay there in pain, another e-rikshaw driver stopped near him, but not to help, but to steal his mobile phone. Soon after he sneaked his phone, he too rushed from the place. At around 7 am, the Police took Matibool to the hospital where he was declared dead due to excessive bleeding.
