New Honda CR-V spied in China, India launch in 2017

The upcoming Honda CR-V is scheduled to be launched in 2017, and ahead of its launch in the Indian market, the Japanese car manufacturer is testing the SUV in China. Recently, fresh images of the Honda CR-V have been spied, revealing the exterior design and styling.

The upcoming Honda CR-V is scheduled to be launched in 2017, and ahead of its launch in the Indian market, the Japanese car manufacturer is testing the SUV in China. Recently, fresh images of the Honda CR-V have been spied, revealing the exterior design and styling. Although, the SUV has been camouflaged completely, it looks quite similar to the present model from its stance.

Honda has given the front fascia of the CR-V a makeover, which now consists of swept-back LED lamps. The front grille features two slats, which are expected to be offered in chrome finish. The new fog lamps are likely to get LED lights, which have been placed on the new bumper. We also expect the automaker to offer the car with blackened-out B-and C-pillars which chrome surrounding. The rear features vertical taillights, a shark-fin antenna, rear wiper and dual exhaust pipes. No interior images have been revealed yet but we expect the cabin to feature a new design and more features.

2017 Honda CR-V spied

The 2017 SUV is likely to be based on a lighter modular platform, which could improve the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Under the hood, the fifth-generation Honda CR-V will get its power from both petrol and diesel engines – a 1.5 L, turbocharged and a 2.0 L, turbocharged, VTEC, petrol engine and a 1.6 L, i-DTEC diesel motor in the international markets. In India, the current model gets 2.0 L and 2.4 L petrol units, which the company might retain and add the 1.6 L diesel as well.

When launched in India, by around late 2017, Honda will offer the 2017 CR-V with 65 % localisation, to compete with the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe, Skoda Yeti, Chevrolet Captiva, etc.
