BJORN Baker delivered one highlight after another at last Monday morning’s Rosehill trials, none shone brighter though than the blue-blooded Cressfield mare EGYPTIAN SYMBOL who is set for a big spring campaign.

Already stakes-placed in the Magic Millions Guineas, Fireball, Darby Munro and P J Bell, Egyptian Symbol was awesome in winning her 900m heat from off the pace and down the middle.

When the time comes for Egyptian Symbol to retire, she’ll take her place at Cressfield (Scone) among such broodmare jewels as Champagne, Regimental Gal, Snowdrift, Star Satire, River Dove and her own Group 1 winner and 10 times Group 1 placed dam, Our Egyptian Raine.

Back to Baker now - he provided the first five across the line in Heat 1 namely (in finishing order); SELITA, HERNE’S OAK, INVINCIBLE DAME, SIR PLUSH and MR GUSTAVO.

Two for special mention among that quintet are the impossibly handsome Herne’s Oak and the up uber progressive Sir Plush.

Whether Herne’s Oak can get to that next level or if he remains a good, solid Saturday class horse ‘only’ remains to be seen but the other one - Sir Plush - is the horse to jump aboard and follow right the way through his grades.

Remember this horse scored an Orange maiden win, Mudgee C1 win, Orange C3 win before a rock solid 3.3-lens in the G3 Hawkesbury Guineas.

Now, as a 4YO, he’s fully mature and that seasoning that Baker built into him is going to pay dividends; big time.

Former Peter Moody trained gelding ROCK FOR THELADIES has so far had the two runs for Baker and they were pearlers - 4th to Ammirata in a Bm83 at Randwick followed by a 4th in a Bm85 at Hawkesbury to subsequent Provincial Championship winner Danish Twist.

The son of Breeders Plate winner Murtajill is 3s 1-1-1 fresh and was doing his best work late when 5th behind Chris Waller’s dominant heat winner SANAYA.

Let’s wrap up this Baker-a-thon short and sharp with three more to note - TOO FAST FOR LOVE won her heat by 4-lens, COOLRING was an easy fourth in a deep 900m heat and COSGROVE who went a lot better than his 6th of 7 would indicate.

He is a beautiful looking chestnut son of Sebring from an American mare.

Heat 6 was set aside for the 2YO’s - of the 8 runners David Payne trains 3, Waller and Team Hawkes two each.

The first four across the line were all worthy without looking like there is a Luskin Star among them but it’s early days yet.

Winner of the heat was EDEN ROC, a $750,000 Magic Millions Yearling and three-quarter-brother to Star Turn hence the Allan Bell colours and Hawkes polish on this youngster.

A couple of other little teasers for the breeding buffs - third-placed AUGUSTUS is a Snitzel half to AJC Derby winner Roman Emperor while the next one home, RADIANT CHOICE is a half to Kaepernick.

The Hawkes crew would have been pleased with their lot, recent Wyong maiden winner BRING ME THE BLING remains in great shape, TIM’S PRINCIPAL would just about win next start off his trial win, ditto Octagonal mare EIGHTH KEEPER.

There were also positive performances from Mentality’s half-brother COLLEGIATE and Nechita’s sibling KANDINSKY who is one start, one win.

Chris Waller was a force, as always, across these mere 11-heats; his best was most assuredly COCOEXCEL who was unextended winning her 900m trial as you would hope and expect from the $600,000 yearling and Warwick Farm debut winner.

Cocoexcel failed badly at her 1400m heavy 8 Rosehill test - she’ll be saved for shorter races - indeed as early as tomorrow at Warwick Farm.

Note for future reference that Waller’s exquisitely bred MISS BALLANTINE (Redoute’s Choice - Glendelvine, herself a Sunday Silence half-sister to Alverta) was an eye-catcher third behind Cocoexcel.

Four more from Camp Waller - RELIGIFY, GOOD PROJECT and TREMEZZINA who were 3rd and 5th in the TAKEDOWN (won the G2 Shorts on Saturday) heat as well as one of Gerry Harvey’s named COUNTY CORK who admittedly is a work in progress but surely too well to fail.

County Cork is a Fastnet Rock daughter of NZ Oaks and Ansett Australia winner Savannah Success, the dam of Cox Plate hero and reigning NZ Champion Sire, Savabeel.

Finally to Arc de Triomphe winning jockey, 8-times Leading Macau trainer, G2 Shorts winning trainer and all around champion bloke Gary Moore who led in the trifecta in Heat 10 - MANHATTAN JUSTICE, HOSTWIN VINTAGE and ROCHFORD - tick, tick and tick.
