Haridwar, September 19

The BJP has blamed the government for ignoring the city because the the party is the dominant force here. A protest will be organised today by the party youth wing outside the Congress city office at Subhash Ghat.

In a briefing here today, BJP district vice-president Vikas Tiwari said Chief Minister Harish Rawat every week visited Haridwar district, but had not granted funds for the development in the city.

The government was biased because the BJP had won the Assembly seat for the past three elections and the city Municipal Corporation was also being led by BJP Mayor Manoj Garg.

“The CM is playing a deliberate game to put break on development works in the segment so that local public deems it a failure of BJP representatives. All major projects are being allocated in non-BJP Assembly segments, which exposes the fear Harish Rawat has of the BJP,” said Tiwari.

Coordinator for the Congress office gherao programme Shakti Tyagi said the protest would be peaceful but would bring to the notice of the people the political ploy by the Congress to put the BJP legislator and the Mayor in negative light.

“We are coordinating with youth activists and local people to ensure a record turnout for the protest. We have also announced names of sub-coordinator and sub in-charges for the protest in all three divisional units of the district. Only youths will be taking part in this protest, which will expose the Congress gameplan, which is hurting the development of the city,” said Tyagi, a former Shravan Nath Math Jawaharlal Nehru College Student Union president.

In charge for the protest programme Kishan Bajaj named sub-coordinators Vidit Sharma, Sumit Chaudhari, Sarveshwar Murti Bhatt, Narendra Shramik, Ajay Joshi, Dipanshu Vidyarthi, Shankar Aggarwal, Rahul Sharma, Gulshan Arora, Rajendra Kataria, Ankit Gupta, Basant Arora, Ashish Dhiman, Reena Kashyap, Shubham Saini, Sumit Lakheda, Mohit Parashar, Anmol, Manish Gupta, Vinod Bharadwaj and Sumit Kumar for Sapt Rishi, Central Haridwar and Kankhal divisional units.

Senior youth leaders Naresh Sharma and Bindiya Goswami were also present at the occasion.
