Everton striker Romelu Lukaku will sit out Tuesday's EFL Cup third-round clash with Championship side Norwich at Goodison Park.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman says Lukaku will rest after coming off in the 3-1 Premier League victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday with a toe problem, although he expects the Belgium international to be back available for this weekend's trip to Bournemouth.

Enner Valencia is set to replace Lukaku, making his first start for the club, in what Koeman has vowed will be a "strong" line-up. Midfielder Darron Gibson has been ruled out for three weeks following groin surgery.

Portugal forward Nelson Oliveira could make his Norwich City debut on Tuesday following his summer switch from Benfica.

Norwegian midfielder Alex Tettey (hip) is a doubt for the trip to Goodison Park, while winger Matt Jarvis (knee) misses out completely.
