Three dead in Junagadh ‘revenge killing’, no breakthrough yet

The series of murders started on Saturday when one Kishan Mori, an autorickshaw driver, was stabbed to death in Madhuram area on Junagadh-Vanthali road around 5.30 pm.

A day after three men were found murdered in a suspected case of revenge killing in Junagadh, police questioned around 24 people on Monday, but failed to find a breakthrough.

“We are questioning a number of persons, but nothing substantial has emerged so far,” said Nilesh Jajadia, superintendent of Junagadh district police.

The series of murders started on Saturday when one Kishan Mori, an autorickshaw driver, was stabbed to death in Madhuram area on Junagadh-Vanthali road around 5.30 pm. Police said Mori was intercepted by one Bavji Rikshawala and an unidentified man. Bavji, who police believe is Mukesh Sarvaiya, also an autorickshaw driver, allegedly stabbed Mori in chest and murdered him. Police said that Mori and Mukesh had entered an argument at Azad Chowk last week over ferrying passengers.

But hours after Mori’s murder, Mukesh, his brother Ajay Sarvaiya and friend Amit Parmar, were found dead at Jafar Maidan on Junagadh-Mendarda Road Sunday morning. The bodies were partially eaten by animals. Wounds inflicted by sharp-edged weapons were found on the bodies, leading police to believe that the trio were also murdered.
