‘Peace’ bus continues to run

Srinagar: A day after a fidayeen attack on an Army base in north Kashmir's Uri, the weekly cross-Line of Control bus service, also called ‘Karvan-e-Aman’ between India and Pakistan, resumed as per schedule through Uri-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawlakote in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Eight passengers crossed over to Chakoti in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir at the Kaman Sethu bridge in Uri. tns

Geelani ‘pained’ by Uri attack 

Srinagar: Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani on Monday said he was pained by the attack on the Uri Army base, but he defended Pakistan, claiming it was being blamed for the attack without “any logic.” In a statement, Geelani said: “There is no other option other than to honour and safeguard precious lives.” TNS

AMU expels student for FB post 

Aligarh:  A Kashmiri student was on Monday expelled from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for posting “objectionable” comments on Facebook over the terror attack on the Army base in Uri.  AMU Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah took a “very serious view” of the issue and expelled the student, who was pursuing MSc in organic chemistry, after personally probing the matter, university spokesman Rahat Abrar said.
