8 Gaya cops suspended for negligence

GAYA: Gaya SSP Garima Malik suspended eight policemen for dereliction of duty on Sunday. Show-cause notices were also issued to three more police personnel. The suspended cops, deputed on Pitrapaksha Mela duty, were found absent from their place of deployment.
The absenteeism was detected during a surprise inspection made by senior police officers on Saturday. About 2000 additional police force has been requisitioned from other districts for crime control and maintenance of law and order during the fortnight-long Pitrapaksha Mela.
Security around the Vishnupad temple has been further tightened in view of the terrorist attack in Kashmir. According to sources, an Indian Mujahedeen (IM) activist arrested in Delhi a few years back, during interrogation had revealed plans to attack the Mahabodhi and Vishnupad temples. Mahabodhi temple was subsequently attacked by the IM through low intensity serial blasts engineered on July 7, 2013.
