Harshvardhan Kapoor's Mirzya is nothing like Magadheera, confirms director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra

There were reports suggesting that Mirzya is all about reincarnation however the movie's director has rubbished all the rumours and also that the movie is based on Telegu hit Magadheera

Harshvardhan Kapoor starrer Mirzya which is based on the story of Mirza Sahiban is nowhere related to Telugu hit movie Magadheera. Earlier there were speculations that they seem similar both the movies have love story set in two different time periods – past and present. However the movie’s director refutes news of any such similarities between both the movies. Says the director, “The stories of the lovers, played by Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher, run parallel to each other and do not follow one another. One story is the legendary tale of Mirza-Sahiban and the other is set in contemporary Rajasthan, which feels like an echo of the epic. Point out that it feels similar to Magadheera, which is about a reincarnated princess and the fearless warrior she loves and he avers, “It’s not true. While I haven’t seen that film, mine is clearly about the Mirza-Sahiban love story. It’s different from the other legendary love stories — like Romeo-Juliet and Soni-Mahiwal — in that, mine is the only pair who consummated their love physically and is contemporary in that sense. We have gone beyond the physical. It’s about two people understanding each other and giving each other the space to be who they are. ‘I love you and can’t live my life without you, but please carry on with your life’, is the message of our film. The whole definition of real love has changed and become enriched.”

The movie which will hit the screens on October 7 this year will show two debutants venturing into Bollywood. Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher’s raw chemistry is already the talking point in the industry and the couple deserves applause from our side since they have made their passion look so real and effortless. The actor who has a huge pressure courtesy his filmi family, is all chilled out and composed when it comes to his first debut movie. Hope the star kid makes big since he has all the essential ingredients needed to be a huge star.
