CUDDALORE: VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Monday demanded a CBI probe into the murder of software professional S Swati in Chennai on July 24 and the suspicious death of the lone suspect in the case, P Ramkumar, at the Puzhal Central Prison on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters here, Thirumavalavan said the statements of the prison officials regarding the death of Ramkumar were contradictory.

He said if Perarivalan, a convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, had died in the recent attack on him in Vellore Central Prison, prison officials would have claimed that he committed suicide.
Thirumavalavan welcomed the human rights commission for taking up the case of his death suo motu. He said the probe should take into account the views of Ramkumar’s advocate.
Ramkumar’s father Paramasivam, who met Thirumavalavan on Monday, charged that his son had been murdered and declared that he would not receive the body until a CBI probe was ordered.
