Guiding Legia Warsaw past Dundalk and into the group stages of the Champions League hasn’t proven sufficient to save Besnik Hasi from the sack, after the Polish champions opted to bring about a swift end to his tenure as manager.
Hasi, who was appointed to the post just over three months ago, has overseen a disastrous start to Legia’s league campaign and the club languish third-from-bottom in the table after nine games.
A 3-1 aggregate success over Dundalk in the final play-off round in the Champions League ensured Legia became the first Polish club in 20 years to appear in the group stages of Europe’s premier club competition.
However, Legia lost 6-0 at home to German side Borussia Dortmund in their Group F opener, their biggest loss in Europe, and are also facing possible sanctions from UEFA for crowd trouble.
Assistant coach Aleksandar Vukovic will act as caretaker manager while the club searches for Hasi's replacement.
