Protests underway as Joan Burton arrives for Jobstown trial
A group of protesters gathered today at the Children's Court in Smithfield this morning as Joan Burton arrived for the first false imprisonment trial relating to the 2014 Jobstown protests
The trial in question is of a 17-year-old who finished his Leaving Certificate this year; he faces two false imprisonment charges for trapping Joan Burton and a member of her staff in her car for two hours as part of a protest against water charges.
