The red carpet is a star's time to shine and Ariel Winter was of no exception at the 2016 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The 18-year-old sparkled in a sexy glammed out dress that left little of her curvy physique to the imagination.

Perhaps Ariel found style inspiration in Kylie Jenner, who recently sported a dress that was dead ringer for the one the Modern Family wore on the red carpet.

Ariel's backless dress featured a strategic thigh-high slit to flash plenty of leg as it also showed off her bare waistline and glimpse of her cleavage.

Slightly reminiscent of a flapper dress, Ariel's sparkling sleeveless frock skimmed the floor and clung to her hourglass figure.

The backless dress also showed off the Modern Family star's tiger tattoo.

She wore a nude slip beneath the frock to protect her modesty while stepping out in a glam pair of strappy silver heels.

Styling her locks into an ultra chic 'do, Ariel looked exquisite with her jet black locks slicked back into a low bun as it also put her radiant facial features on full show.

The star's complexion shone through with pink blush, lipstick, flawless brows, and a pair of earrings to top off the bejeweled look.

Ariel was clearly pleased with the Yousef Al-Jasmi dress, and while speaking with E! on the red carpet, revealed the decision to go with the gown came quickly.

'I love the dress,' she said. 'It's sparkly, I love the fit of it,' adding she felt 'really good' in it.

The actress also elaborated on her decision to defer her enrollment at UCLA for another year, explaining work ended up conflicting with her school schedule.

'The problem was I had made my schedule and when I went to production we couldn’t make it for this year due to heavy story line,' she explained.

'Unfortunately, I have to go next year instead of this year,' she said. 'But, that’s okay. I’m still going to be a Bruin,' Ariel added in a nod to the school's mascot.

Ariel also said she would be elated if a classmate ended up being a huge fan of Modern Family.

'That's amazing if someone's a fan of the show, definitely doesn't make it awkward. I would just be super excited and grateful,' she said.

Ariel also said that her best friend Jesse had accompanied her as her date for the evening and that she still aspired to be a lawyer.

Modern Family has won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series the four out of five times it has nominated the last few years.

2016 marks the sixth time it has been nominated for the honour, and of course the cast came out on the red carpet to show their support for the long-running comedy.

Ariel's co-stars Sarah Hyland, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons were among those on the red carpet.
