Walcott believes Arsenal are more ruthless this season

Theo Walcott believes that Arsenal are more ruthless this season compared to previous years following their 4-1 thrashing of Hull City in the weekend. The Tigers were down to 10 men before the end of the first half after Jake Livermore was sent off for deliberately handling the ball and preventing a clear goalscoring opportunity, which allowed the Gunners to turn the screw in the second half.

Walcott, who missed the game against PSG through injury, created the first goal with a cross and was the scorer of the second after a brilliant one-two with Alex Iwobi inside the six yard box. The goal, dinked over the keeper, was the 27-year-old's 100th in all competitions for club and country, a milestone he will look to build on over the course of the season.

The victory was Arsenal's third from as many games in the league, after taking only a point from their first two outings against Liverpool and Leicester City. Walcott scored against Liverpool and also missed a penalty, but failed to restrict the Reds, who scored four in the game to take three crucial points.

"I think so [on becoming more ruthless]. Maybe in the time gone we might have been bullied in these sorts of games, but everyone was physically strong and we're getting better, stronger and fitter in each game now. I think the best of us is still to come," Walcott told Arsenal's official website.

"We had a very tough game against Southampton, we got a great point at PSG in the week and we've been tested this week with a coupe of away games. Hull wasn't going to be easy - they've had a very good start and I think they'll take a lot of points against teams here. Sometimes people say it's a lot easier when teams go down to 10 men but it is very difficult to be honest, because you need to break them down. Giving away the penalty was a bit scary but the guys fought on well and Alexis got his deserved goal," he added.
