Mumbai: Acting school teacher molests 22-year-old student

A 22-year-old woman lodged a molestation complaint against a teacher of a well known acting school in Amboli. The victim, who is a resident of Ahmedabad and currently lives in Mumbai, had enrolled for a three-month course with the acting school.

According to the officials at Amboli police station, “The victim is a resident of Vile Parle and had been for the past one month taking weekend classes at the acting school. The incident took place at the acting school on September 11 but the victim reported the incident only on September 14. According to her, the 30 year old teacher was conducting an acting class when this incident took place. There were 12 students present in the premise at the time of incident, however, they were practicing in different rooms and areas of the premise. The victim has alleged that the teacher took her in a secluded corner for practicing. While pretending that it was a part of the practice, the accused slapped her on her cheek and also tried to lift her t-shirt. She was shaken by the incident hence, she lodged a complaint after three days of the incident.”

The official further added, “We have searched the premises CCTV footage and found that the victim was taken to the spot where she had narrated that the incident had taken place and a few other things are revealed in the footage as well, however, the accused is still absconding, we are interrogating with the School officials as well.”

The police has lodged a complaint under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354 (a) (making sexually coloured remarks), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of Indian Penal Code.
