CJI T S Thakur meets Narendra Modi, praises Gujarat's peace
Chief Justice of India T S Thakur.
AHMEDABAD: On his maiden visit to Gujarat, on Saturday, Chief Justice of India (CJI), T S Thakur began the day by meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CJI praised the "peaceful" and "tranquil" nature of the PM's home state when compared to "power-centre Delhi, which has witnessed bloodshed for centuries."
While inaugurating a state-level judicial officers' conference on Saturday morning, CJI Thakur told the 400 -odd judicial officers, including judges of the high court and district courts, to make the best use of infrastructure provided by the state, at a time when basic facilities like health and drinking water remain neglected in the country.

Speaking about his meeting with Modi at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar, the CJI told the judicial officers, "I was telling the Prime Minister that coming to Gujarat gives a feeling of coming to a place of peace.."
Praising Gujarat as a place of Lord Krishna, and where leaders like Gandhi and Sardar Patel had been born, and from where the current PM hails, Justice Thakur said, "There are so many reasons why Gujaratis should legitimately be proud and feel fortunate, and anyone from any other part of the country should really feel envious of those who are living in this beautiful state."
