Police said the woman was on her way to get water from a nearby tank, around 10 pm, when the three men accosted her.
They overpowered her and took her to a slum near the Aya Nagar border, where they raped her. They then allowed the woman to go but only after threatening her with more violence if she spoke about the assault.
The woman made her way back to her home, confided in her husband and, the next morning, filed a complaint at the DLF Phase 1 police station. An FIR was lodged against the three men under section 376-D (gang rape) of the IPC. Police said a medical examination of the woman conducted at Civil Hospital confirmed rape.
The three men were identified as Ved Prakash and Bablu of Aya Nagar in Delhi, and Dalip alias Tension of Bihar. Ved Prakash runs a milk stall near the shanties where the woman lives while Bablu works as a driver and Dalip is a labourer.
Raids were conducted and Dalip was arrested on Saturday. “He works as labourer at the Sikanderpur marble market. The other accused, Ved Prakash and Bablu, are still at large but will be arrested soon,” said sub-inspector Sunita, the investigating officer.
