Woman pulled into car, robbed
New Delhi: A gang of robbers snatched a woman’s gold chain and wallet near Hauz Khas on Friday morning.
The woman was going to a market when four men in a car held her by her neck and pulled her inside the car through the window. When she tried to raise an alarm, she was dumped on the road.
The woman, the wife of a senior defence ministry officer, then reached the Hauz Khas police station and filed a complaint, following which a case of snatching was registered.
According to the woman, the four men had stopped the car beside her on the pretext of asking something. However, when she went close, one of the men caught her and pulled her inside. “One of them took away my gold chain while the others took my purse which contained Rs 100,” said the woman.
The men then pushed her out of the window and sped away. Hearing her calls for help, locals rushed to help her. The woman suffered injuries on her elbow and knees. Her family members were informed and she was taken to a clinic where she was treated for her injuries.
A case under section 356 of IPC (assault or criminal force to commit theft) and 379 (theft) has been registered against the men. Police have recovered the CCTV footage to identify the car.
Police said that they would recreate the events to identify the road the robbers might have taken to escape. “The area being close to the Ring Road gives the robbers the perfect option to escape. We have formed a team to trace down the accused,” said a senior police officer.
