The expected box office clash between Kollywood’s celebrity brothers Suriya and Karthi will not happen. Earlier, Suriya’s third instalment in the Singam franchise and Karthi’s period drama Kashmora were expected to release during Diwali. But, in the wake of the latest developments, the release of Suriya’s police film has now been postponed to December. This is because the film’s shoot is still underway. However, according to buzz, the Anjaan star had requested the Singam 3 producer K E Gnanavel Raja, to defer the release, in order to ensure his brother’s film gets a big opening.
Singam 3 is directed by Hari and has Anushka Shetty and Shruti Hassan as its female leads. The film is likely to hit the screens around Christmas now. On the other hand, Karthi’s period drama is fast nearing completion as it is slated for the Diwali release.
In August, the first look poster of Kashmora released to a positive response from the fans. The poster features Karthi as a menacing warlord with a shaved head and a thick beard.
Kashmor is said to be a multi-genre period film with elements of horror, comedy and action. The film is directed by Gokul. Besides Karthi, the film also stars Nayantara and Sri Divya in important roles.
In other news, Suriya’s next project was announced on Friday. The film, tentatively titled Suriya 36 will be produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, which is also bankrolling Karthi’s Kashmora.
“Proud & Happy to share that @Suriya_offl ‘s #Suriya36 will be produced by @DreamWarriorpic. Looking forward to share more details soon!!,” said the production house in a tweet.
