Elderly couple commits suicide in Udhna

SURAT: An elderly couple consumed insecticide to commit suicide in Udhna area of the city on Thursday night.
Udhna police said Nandkishore Tikkiwala, 65, and his wife Jayaben, 64, were childless. They were living with Jayaben's sister's son Premal. The couple, suffering from some illness, were fed up of life, police said.
Nandkishore died before he could be taken for treatment to New Civil Hospital (NCH).Jayaben died during treatment at the NCH. The couple began to vomit on consuming insecticide. Family members rushed them to the hospital. Tikiwala worked in a textile unit before his retirement.
