Elaborate arrangements have been made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Limkheda in Dahod district, the first in the tribal heartland of Gujarat after becoming the PM.

VADODARA: Elaborate arrangements have been made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Limkheda in Dahod district, the first in the tribal heartland of Gujarat after becoming the PM.
Modi will be announcing water supply schemes for Dahod and other tribal areas in the state on the occasion.
The schemes that Modi will announce include six water supply projects worth Rs 1,757crore and four lift irrigation projects worth Rs 2,000crore.
The six group water supply schemes will provide drinking water to a population of about 21lakh residing in 960 villages including settlements of Narmada project affected families and towns in the Dahod, Mahisagar, Narmada and Chhotaudepur districts.
The four lift irrigation projects based on the Kadana-Karjan and Kakrapar reservoir will provide irrigation to 97,455 acres of land in Dahod, Narmada, Mahisagar and Surat districts. Dahod district itself will bet benefits of Kadana-based Rs 1,055crore lift irrigation project and Rs 895crore Narmada-based Hafeshwar driking water project that will cater to 343 villages and two towns.
Organisers have made efforts to ensure that the digits 6 and 7 figure prominently in various programmes during the event. BJP in-charge of Dahod district Amit Thacker said that a 67feet high hoarding of the PM has been erected at the venue, kathas and 'havans' were held at 167 locations to pray for him, 67 tribal 'dhol' troupes will play when he arrives 617 girls will remain present along the route of his arrival at the venue.
"Two songs - one in Bhojpuri and one based on the tribal folk form 'Timli' - have also been composed," Thacker added. As many as 21 tribal dance troupes will also perform on the occasion, he said. Houses along the route of the PM's convoy will also be decorated with flowers and 'Ashok' tree leaves.
A letter writing competition for 67,000 school children will also be held in the coming days. The children will be asked to write letters to Modi regarding how their lives changed due to welfare schemes. "Best letters at the school, taluka and district levels in Dahod will be given cash prizes," said Thacker.
