Father and brother seek CBI probe into Ganapathi's death
BENGALURU: K Kushalappa, the 75-year-old father of DSP MK Ganapathi, and his other son K Machaiah have moved the high court seeking a CBI probe into Ganapathi's unnatural death.
The petitioners, both agriculturists from Rangasamudra village in Somwarpet taluk of Kodagu district, said former minister KJ George, IPS officers Pronab Mohanty and AM Prasad, against whom investigations are being conducted, hold high office.
Owing to political pressure, the CID is likely to close its investigation by filing a B report to favour them, they alleged.
The petitioners said they suspect foul play because Ganapathi would never have killed himself. Further, they said, it cannot be a case of suicide since two rounds of bullets had been fired from his service revolver in the room where he was found dead. Ganapathi, who was the Mangaluru DSP, died under mysterious circumstances at a lodge in Madikeri on July 7.
Judge recuses
The petition will come up before another high court judge next week as Justice AS Bopanna recused himself from hearing the petition on Friday.
