Woman sets herself ablaze after tiff with husband
Nagpur: A woman succumbed to injuries after allegedly burning herself with kerosene in the kitchen at Dadaji Nagar, near MIDC, on Thursday. Priyanka, who was in her 30s, had a tiff with her husband Manoj Chavre who was in another room of their residence when the incident took place. Cops have registered a case of accidental death.
Priyanka, who was unwell due to fever, was upset with Manoj for not taking her to hospital.
She wanted to go out for work too but Manoj had stopped that too, said cops. She then went to the back of the house, which was being used as kitchen, and took the drastic step. Priyanka got completely burned and died on the spot.
Priyanka had eloped with Manoj, a florist, in 2009. They had a baby girl Gauri next year, who is now 7 years old. “We sent Gauri to stay in my parents’ house in Swawlambi Nagar as Priyanka could not wake up early to send her to school,” said Manoj.
Priyanka, who hawked a toy shop during Ganpati festival, used to assist Manoj in his business too. The relationship of Priyanka and Manoj soured over financial matters.
Disappointed over two miscarriages, Priyanka wanted another baby. She was under some medication too, according Manoj. “I told her we will be happy with just one, but she was always craving for a boy,” he added. “Even on Thursday we were arguing about that.”
