Photography workshop at DAV College

A two-day workshop titled “Framing Frames 2016” was organised by the Department of Mass Communication and Video Production (MCVP), DAV College. Jatinder Pal Singh Jabbal, a cinematographer, was the key resource person and Harneek Aulakh, a theatre artiste, was the guest of honour during the event.

Principal, Dr Rajesh Kumar, along with Prof Arif Nazir, Head of the Department of the MCVP, welcomed and presented mementoes to the guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rajesh said intellectual workshops helped in developing overall personality of students. He said such platforms gave an opportunity to students to get hands on experience of different modes of camera. He also congratulated staff of the department for making sincere efforts for organising the workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Nazir said, “The department always strives hard to provide best practical and theoretical knowledge to students. We also try to bring professionals to our college to help our students get best knowledge in every field.”

The workshop hosted a series of practical sessions. In the first session, the expert talked about the history of cameras and its various generations. He discussed the concept of exposure triangle, mainly shutter, aperture and ISO, besides depth of field and other concepts, with students.

In the next session, the expert focused on lenses, their working and uses. The session was followed by highlighting different features of a camera and parts, besides its working. Some assignments based on exposure of triangle were given to students at the end of the first day.

Prof Sania Arora, Prof Saurav Sharma, Prof Vani Sharma, Prof Saundarya Kochar, Prof Roohi Sharma and Prof Ferry Bhatia were also present in the workshop.
